Juan Erviti, Pharm, PhD, is a Hospital Pharmacy and expert in Health Technology Assessment. In 2003,
he was appointed Head of the Drug Information Unit of the Navarre Health Service (NHS), Spain, and
editor of the Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin of Navarre (2003-2017, 15 years). He served as the Vice
President of the Navarre Clinical Trials Ethics Committee (2004-2014, 11 years) and as the Secretary
General of the International Society of Drug Bulletins (2012-2016, 4 years).
He currently works in the Innovation and Organization Unit of the Navarre Health Service, leads a
research group at the Navarre Health Research Institute (IdiSNA), and is Director of the Navarre
Cochrane Associate Centre, Spain. He also chairs the NHS Committee for the Improvement of the
Appropriateness of Clinical Practice (MAPAC).
His research activity focuses on pharmacoepidemiology, systematic reviews, and appropriateness of
clinical practice. He has published more than 60 scientific articles in high-impact medical journals. He
has also supervised five doctoral theses and served as a visiting professor at the University of British
Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, during the 2020-2021 academic year. In 2023, he was appointed
honorary professor at the Universidad Tecnológica Equinoccial in Quito, Ecuador. He is currently an
associate professor at the Public University of Navarre (UPNA), where he teaches research
methodology and scientific evidence in the Master's program in Health Sciences Research.
