Nicolás Martínez es Jefe del Servicio de Geriatría del Complejo Hospitalario de Navarra. Desde el año 2018 compagina su actividad asistencial con el desarrollo de proyectos de investigación traslacional en Navarrabiomed, gracias al Programa de intensificación de Fundación Bancaria La Caixa, Fundación Bancaria Caja Navarra y Navarrabiomed.
Iñigo Lasa holds a degree in Biology from the University of Navarra (Pamplona, 1988) and is the recipient of the Biological Sciences Extraordinary Award (Pamplona, 1988). He completed his doctoral thesis at the Severo Ochoa Molecular Biology Centre in the Autonomous University of Madrid (1992). Lasa worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute in Cologne (Germany, 1993) and the Institut Pasteur in Paris (1995-1997). In 2000, he was a visiting scientist at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York.
In 1998, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Microbiology at the Public University of Navarra (UPNA); since 2008, after obtaining the national certification as a university professor, he has been Professor of Microbiology, specialising in Microbiology and Genetic Engineering. He has been the doctoral advisor of 13 students so far.
Iñigo Lasa has been leading researcher in 21 Spanish and European projects that produced more than 100 scientific papers published in international journals. At the domestic level, he was an adjunct at the National Agency for Project Assessment (ANEP) and is currently the manager of the Biotechnology area at the Sub-Directorate-General for Research Projects of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
In 2015, he was appointed Director of Navarrabiomed-Miguel Servet Foundation, while he continued leading the Microbial Pathogenesis Unit at Navarrabiomed.
Recently Iñigo Lasa has been appointed to membership in the European Academy of Microbiology, organization that includes leading European microbiologists in their fields and aims to promote excellence in microbiology.
Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry (UNAV-2001). PhD in Biochemistry (Extraordinary Award in 2005) and postdoctoral stay (2006/10) focused on the field of protein biochemistry and proteomics in liver diseases. Master in SME Management (2008). Scientific Manager of the Proteomics Platform (Navarrabiomed-2011/13). Principal Investigator of the Clinical Neuroproteomics Unit (Navarrabiomed/IdiSNA 2013-present).
Throughout his scientific career he has published more than 130 scientific articles, 15 book chapters and has edited two reference guides on Brain Proteomics. His research group is an international reference in olfactory proteomics and neuroproteomics. He has participated in international projects from POCTEFA, FP6 and FP7 programmes and the Michael J Fox Foundation. Member of the European Proteomics Association (EuPA), the Spanish Proteomics Society (Seprot), the Spanish Olfactory Network (ROE) and the Global Consortium for Chemosensory Research (GCCR). Spanish representative in the International Human Brain Proteome Project. Associate Professor in the Area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology-Health Sciences Department at UPNA and collaborator in different Master's degrees related to Systems Biology and -omics data analysis.
Maite Mendioroz Iriarte es licenciada en Medicina y Cirugía por la Universidad de Navarra (1996) y cursó la especialidad de neurología (MIR) en el Hospital Donostia. Continuó su formación en el Hospital Universitario Vall d’Hebron- Institut de Recerca (2006-2010), donde realizó la tesis doctoral por la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. Entre 2010-2012 completó su formación en neuroepigenética con una estancia como Científica Visitante en la Universidad de Columbia (Nueva York, Estados Unidos).
Desde el año 2010, Mendioroz forma parte del equipo médico del Servicio de Neurología del Hospital Universitario de Navarra (HUN), del que es coordinadora de Investigación y donde ha desarrollado su actividad en el área de las enfermedades neurodegenerativas. Ha compaginado su actividad asistencial con el liderazgo de la Unidad de NeuroEpigenética de Navarrabiomed, gracias al Programa de Intensificación de Fundación Bancaria La Caixa, Fundación Bancaria Caja Navarra y Navarrabiomed y del Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII).
A lo largo de su trayectoria ha sido tutora de residentes y ha dirigido 4 tesis doctorales y 12 proyectos nacionales e internacionales competitivos que han dado lugar a 98 publicaciones científicas. Ha participado en la evaluación de proyectos en la Agencia Estatal de Investigación y como panelista en comisiones técnicas de evaluación del ISCIII. Asimismo, atesora múltiples reconocimientos y galardones: Premio Nacional Alberto Rábano a la mejor tesis en neurociencias de la Fundación Romanillos (2011), en 2018 fue nombrada Miembro de Honor del Consejo Europeo de Doctores, Premio TELVA a las ciencias 2018 y ranking Top 100 Mujeres Líderes en España 2021.
Mendioroz ejerció la Dirección de Navarrabiomed-FMS en el período 2022 a 2024.
